Amy + Brandon // The Bachelor Farmer

Before Rick and I even meet a couple, we try to figure out ways to get to know their vibe and style. One of our favorites? Ask them their favorite libation of choice. It’s an added bonus when they show up to our studio and we have it ready for them. What if they don’t have a favorite, you ask? Bubbles. Bubbles are always the answer. Plus, it’s just fun to pop the bottle. And we like bubbles.

One time we bonded with one of our brides over margaritas and fine tequilas. The day of her wedding, she surprised us with our own hand written notes and mini tequilas to celebrate the big day! That’s a another win for us.

A great way to tell the vibe of a couple is to find out which wedding venue they picked. We could go on about the vibes of a barn wedding versus a downtown rooftop wedding, but we’ll save that for another time. When we heard Amy and Brandon chose to host their celebration at The Bachelor Farmer, we knew it meant three things:

  1. It will be an intimate affair

  2. The food and cocktails will be unmatched

  3. They are ready to rage

And you know what? Their wedding was exactly that.

This really was just one of those days where the little gestures and simple moments spoke the grandest. The hand grabs, the whispers in the ear, the golf club tie clip - it was personal and intimate.

When we arrived at The Hewing Hotel to capture the final images of Amy getting ready, we were greeted by only the women of her and Brandon’s families. Their moms, his sister, even grandma was there getting her makeup done. It was one of those moments where you could feel the anticipation, the excitement, and the overwhelming calm because it was the people who meant the most to them.

Brandon arrived solo. Amy hoped he would at least take an Uber Black so he could feel like he was pampered as well, but nobody knows what he actually took (except for Rick). He was the perfect combination of nervous and doting. The only questions he asked us was if Amy was happy and if the morning was turning out how she envisioned. Needless to say, we could easily answer yes to both.

Side note: It was Amy’s dream to have their first look take place in this exact spot. Even though their wedding was on one of the most popular Saturdays in September, we guaranteed we would make it happen. Something to know about us - when we say we’ll make something happen, we mean it. That even includes having someone positioned and waiting for forty-five minutes to make sure when our bride was ready, her dream spot was ready, too.

One of my favorite parts about them not having a wedding party meant we got to run around the city with just them. Any spot in the North Loop that you think is picture-perfect, we went there. Brandon and Amy kissed in alleys, danced in the street, we got cat called as they simply spent their wedding day together. They knew their party with all of their favorite people was coming, so they just took it all in.

Remember our predictions about the food and cocktails? Yeah, that was an understatement. Wow. I really don’t know if we can say more. As their guests entered for the ceremony, everyone was greeted with a glass of bubbles (again, you can’t go wrong with bubbles), followed by an immaculate cocktail hour with some of the finest beverages The Bachelor Farmer had to offer. Each room was perfectly set up to create a unique atmosphere.

The Afghan Room was turned into the bar. It may have been the most popular room, but it never felt overly crowded. The Living Room created a space for family and friends to connect and get comfortable while enjoying the immaculate passed apps - we’re talking duck, roasted figs, and more.

Finally, the secret doors were opened and guests were welcomed into The Library for dinner. Dinner feels like such an under appreciated term. It was fine dining, it was immaculate, it was the best food you can imagine. None of these words do it justice, so just take a look at their current menu (The Bachelor Farmer Menu).

Amy and Brandon celebrated. Their was no rushing, no hurrying for this or that. They didn’t even do a first dance. Instead, they let their wedding turn back into a cocktail hour, skipped the first dances, cut the cake (something Brandon wasn’t sure he wanted to do, but then ended up loving), and let everyone dance the night away when the moment felt right.
